Donation Drive: Super Typhoon Odette

Corporate Social Responsibility

  • In December 2021, Super Typhoon Odette (internationally known as Typhoon Rai) ravaged the provinces of Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands in Mindanao, five provinces of Visayas, and the island of Palawan in Luzon before leaving the Philippine area. It brought torrential rains, violent winds, landslides, and storm surges to the country. Team Senator completed a phone barrage to the crewmembers’ families living in crucial areas. The company then launched a financial support campaign through donation, as well as cash advance for those who already signed a Philippine Overseas Employment Administration contract and Special Allotment for those who were onboard. There are at least 54 families who benefited from this initiative
  • Following the destructive supertyphoon Yolanda in 2013, the company’s outreach program extended to the community, leading the restoration of a classroom building in Luneta Elementary School in La Paz, Leyte and Bonga Menor Elementary School, Bustos Bulacan through the generosity of SCM’s clients, NSB GROUP (REEDEREI NSB Niederelbe Schiffahrtsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG) and CSMCY (Columbia Shipmanagement Ltd Cyprus). The restoration was completed in early 2014 and has provided much-needed classrooms to help normalize the studying and learning activities of school children in the community.
