Senator Crewing (Manila) Inc.’s Administration Assistant Hannah Astronomo and Home Allotment Accounting Officer Maezzle Magadia attended the Seminar on Financial Empowerment for Seafarers with the theme “Navigating Financial Horizons: Empowering Seafarers and Families Through Savings and Protection Program” held at AMOSUP Hall, AMOSUP Building, Intramuros Manila on May 21, 2024.
The Seminar on Financial Empowerment for Seafarers was organized in collaboration with the Blas Ople Policy Center and Training Institute, the Integrated Seafarers of the Philippines (ISP), and Joint Manning Group (JMP). It aimed to steer seafarers and their families towards a safer and more prosperous financial outlook. It was supported by partners such as the Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Pag-IBIG Fund, and Sun Life, which shared important information and advice to help seafarers maximize their savings and investment potential to secure their future.
KABAYAN Partylist Rep. Ron P. Salo, who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker at the event, highlighted the critical need for financial literacy and security among our maritime professionals at the AMOSUP Hall. Capt. Gaudencio C. Morales, President of Integrated Seafarers of the Philippines, discussed the livelihood after seafaring, including fishing and local cruise tourism.
Team Senator left the seminar with a fruitful lesson on the financial literacy of seafarers. This will further empower the team to impart such discussion to their crew.
