Woman Up! Celebrating Empowerment: SCM Ladies’ Journey at the SeaFam and ISWAN-Philippines Event

In celebration of Women’s Month, Team Senator attended an inspiring event entitled “Woman Up! Celebrating the Woman Behind Our Seafarers” at the Sims Training Center in Ermita on March 2. Organized by SeaFam International and ISWAN-Philippines, the event was led by Arianne Blanche Rocha and Marville Cullen Espago.

The event recognized the dedication of seafarers’ wives, who diligently care for their families while their husbands are away. These silent heroes were acknowledged for their resilience and selflessness, inspiring others with their unwavering strength.

During the event, several speakers delivered empowering talks. Dr. Paula Manalo Suliguin, a distinguished Maritime Mental Health Trainer, shared insights on “Embracing Your Womanity.” She delved into the essence of womanhood and the challenges faced by seafarers’ spouses, inspiring attendees to find empowerment in their roles.

Following Dr. Suliguin, renowned OPM artist. Selina Sevilla discussed “Embracing Your Beauty,” emphasizing that true beauty radiates from within. Her message resonated deeply with attendees, encouraging them to embrace their uniqueness and inherent worth.

For the activities, Arianne Blanche Rocha facilitated a reflective session, inviting attendees to revisit significant moments in their lives. Through shared experiences and guided introspection, participants build connections and solidarity.

Throughout the event, camaraderie, laughter, and meaningful interactions flourished, cultivating a profound sense of unity and empowerment among all participants. As Team Senator, we remain steadfast in our commitment to actively engage in events that contribute to the empowerment journey of our seafarers’ and their families.
